Art Reviews

Amelia G. Escoda’s seascapes immerse us in infinite spaces of contained spirituality. Her enigmatic environments combine telluric elements with pictorial gestures corresponding to instinctive choreographies and coherent with what is represented. This way of creating places us in the Origin, in the sensitive Creation of instinct and correspondence. The contemplation of his aesthetics cradles our senses as the great mother nature elaborates. His aesthetic hedonism claims respect for the sea. In this unique case, sensitivity is allied with a wealth of surprising and necessary pictorial nuances to feel captivated by the subtlety and emotion, by his irrepressible creativity.

Connecting with the deepest part of the self can only be done by a chosen few who retain synesthesia like Mozart and others in the history of life. This beautiful artist has that visceral power to make paint and materials speak of her encounters through color. There is something crackling and crisp in the rough or delicate surface of paint and matter in perfect communion, observing these paintings with the experimentaL spirit of the sensorial explorer is a passionate adventure that I am grateful to this artist whom I deeply respect for her authenticity, intuition, courage, capacity of surrender and play that transports me to the world of ART. with capital letters, which is my passion. Thank you for the happy and concerned experience that you expose in your paintings

— Mara Estellés Contreras – Doctor in Fine Arts – Prize to the “Best Art Book of the Year” by Correo del Arte – Madrid. and for the book “The Alphabet of the Gesture” to the Alphabet of the Gesture” through the work of “Francisco Lozano – prologue by Luis Rosales. with a prologue by Luis Rosales.

“Her underwater landscape paintings are only one way to give voice to the soul” In an era like the present, in which frenzy, disorder and noise are protagonists and companions of life, knowing Amelia’s work is a lifesaver. The Spanish artist’s work fits into a marine dimension that contrasts with Life on land but, nevertheless, immersing herself in the water means for the artist also immersing in herself and reproducing her inner landscapes on canvas. As Charles Baudelaire says, “The sea is your mirror: contemplate your soul in the infinite spinning of the rolling wave, so Amelia’s work exerts the power of inner search, both for the artist and the beholder. Her landscape painting is only a means to give voice to the soul. However, a look at a less recent era is condensed in the pictorial technique, clearly impressionist in style: the contrasts of light and shadow, the strong and vivid colors, are characteristic of the school of Monet, Renoir and also Cézanne. Its dominant color is blue, reminiscent of the works depicting Monet’s water lilies, where the brushstroke gives life to the small ripples of water. Amelia’s artistic activity aims at an ambitious goal, namely to create a solid link between work, artist and nature, where the latter plays a fundamental role as it becomes the protagonist and accomplice but not only: painting is discovering itself; the work thus becomes the artist’s own fingerprint

The Meaning of the Gesture

Amelia’s work, almost always in large format, is characterized by her sensitivity about creation. She interprets each formal aspect from her own vision, involving her whole body and making the observer’s close visual experience a discovery. In her works we distinguish expressionist gestures, handprints and fingerprints that force the observer to stop and observe. A reflection on the importance of calm and conscientious presence. A map of abstract sensations that never ceases to rediscover herself at every centimeter. Each space contains its own ocean, composed of textures, lights and shines that can only be appreciated with this pure and sensitive intention. Amelia works as in a dance, being waves that crash and spread over the surface leaving their mark wherever she places them and giving us, with each work, a hidden garden of sensations. Submerged and hidden rooms, which are only perceived in the proximity and that as a whole form authentic calm and harmony
